Make Dinosaur Paper Bag Puppets

Dinosaur Paper Bag Puppet Download

Fun craft for your dinosaur week making paper bag puppets!

Kids love dinosaurs and what a cute easy craft for the kids who are learning about dinosaurs! This is a paper bag dinosaur puppet that is simple for the kids to make! What’s more fun for kids than singing a dinosaur song with their new dinosaur puppets, kids can do the dinosaur hokey pokey song, and act out the movements as they sing the dinosaur song!

Print out either the dinosaur that is in color or the black and white one, print out the dinosaur puppet onto heavy white paper such as white cardstock paper. If you print out the black and white puppet, have the children color the puppet and then cut it out and glue or tape onto a paper bag. You will need to turn the paper bag upside down and tape the head of the dinosaur to the bottom of the bag {the top of the flap of the bag}. Then lift the flap of the bag and place the bottom part of the mouth of the dinosaur under the flap of the bag and continue taping or gluing the rest of the dinosaur onto the front of the bag.

Show children how they can place their hand into the bag and find the flap of the back and move their hand just right to make it look like the dinosaur is opening and closing his mouth, great fun!

For this activity you will need: White heavy paper such as white cardstock paper, scissors, tape or glue, crayons or markers and a lunch sized paper bags or a white craft bag.

Fun and simple crafts that engage the children and help them to focus on the colors they are learning about this week.

Dinosaur Science & Discovery
Science For Kids
Paleontologist

Dinosaur Science Paleontologist Activity

What Is A Paleontologist?

New word: Talk to the children about what paleontologists are and how they dig for bones. This would be a good time for the children to pretend they are a paleontologist.

You will need a sand table filled with clean sand or use an outside sandbox. You will need some dog bones or print out some pretend dionosaur bones and lamanate these.

Teacher will need to bury some dog bones or paper dinosaur bones in the sand table in the classroom or in the sandbox outside. Have the children pretend they are paleontologist and have the children go on a dinosaur dig.

To make it more fun, offer the children safari hats, which can be found online at Amazon for about $8.00 each right now but prices can change or you can check out Oriental Trading. I found on Oriental Trading that have 12 safari hats for about $9.00 right now, but prices can change, the hats at Oriental Trading are a lot less expensive but probably won’t last long, if you want to use these year after year, you may want to look for a better quality hat. The hats on Amazon for $8.00 each looked like nice quality hats. If you can get into a local store to actually see the hats then you would know for sure what your getting before purchasing them.

What child doesn’t love to play in the sand, place some paint brushes in your sand area and show the children how they can use the paintbrushes to sweep the sand off the bones.

Our August curriculum lesson plans are super fun and affordable you can purchase the entire month for only $15.00! Click here to view

Dinosaur Gross Motor Jump Game

Dinosaur Color Jump Game!

Fun Gross Motor Outside Activity

Stomp, romp, jump, roar! This game is sure to be a hit with the kids!

Teacher will need to print out the dinosaur color cards and lamanate them to make them durable. This is a great game to teach kids their colors and to motivate them to have fun jumping around and getting some gross motor exercise!

Teacher will need either different colored cloth placemats or towels. Set these outside in your play area. You will want to make several long lines so many kids can play at once.

Have the children jump from one placemat to the next one, each placemat will have a different colored dinosar on it, each child will need to look down and tell you what color the dinosaur is before they can move onto the next square. If they say the wrong color, they need to start over.

Our curriculum lesson plans includes a gross motor activity each day {5 days per week}.

Special Activity
Dinosaur Game

Dinosaur TRex Game

Dinosaur, Dinosaur, T– Rex!

Have all the children sit in a circle, this activity works best outside.

Teacher will begin the game and she will be “it” and she will walk around the circle and she walks around the circle she will lightly tape each childs head or shoulder.

She will say the word dinosaur as she taps childs head, repeat with each child, until she eventually chooses one of the children to swim after her and teacher will say “T-Rex”.

This child will jump up and “run” after the teacher and teacher will “run” around the circle to that child’s spot and quickly sit down.

Now this child is now “it” and he/she will begin by saying “dinosaur” and lightly tapping each childs head or shoulder as he/she walks around the circle.

The object of the game is to lightly tap each person as the child walks around the circle and then eventually say “run” and they will try to get back to that child’s spot and sit down.

Now the child that was “running” after the teacher, they will start the game over by saying, dinosaur, dinosaur, dinosur...T–Rex

Try to encourge the child to pick someone that hasn’t had a turn yet.

Our curriculum lesson plans includes a special activity each day which could be a craft, a game, fine motor activity, dramatic play, etc. {5 days per week}
